Bio
Basima began her belly dance career at the 1974 world's fair. After taking a lesson with Jodette she was one of the students selected to do a brief performance demonstration with Jodette. After moving from Spokane to Richland, WA she quickly became involved in the local dance community eventually teaching classes, running a troupe and sponsoring workshops.
During the 70s George played a supporting role, running many shows and always lending a helping hand. In the 80s Basima and George headed west and ended up in Seattle Washington. After dancing there for a couple of years they took a break. During the late 90s they stumbled across the Mediterranean Fantasy Festival (a continuation of the Fantasia Festival). After a couple of very exuberant phone calls Basima and her daughter, Diana, begin taking lessons from Tina Sargent. They also learned from Zaphara, Nabeela El Shalimar, Hasani, Aleedra and many more.
Basima and Diana danced a duet at Hasani's Summer Hafla in 2000. It was a first for Diana and the rebirth of a passion for Basima. George quickly replaced Diana as a duet partner and they began their dance career together. Since partnering they have performed at Hasani's Hafla, Rakkasah, Y'Halla Y'all, Johara's Hafla (Florida) and MANY other fantastic shows.
